HARMONY HEARTH
DESCRIPTION:
The Gift of Writing is a metaphor for the writing process. A traffic light is used as a visual simile for the writing process, too. Motivate your student writers to find their writer’s voice and to draw the important connection between reading and writing. Listen to them laugh and learn as they are lead through the writing process: From Inspiration (ideas) to Perspiration (hard work) to Publication (the final product). Watch as heads pop during Inspiration (literally and figuratively!), brains churn during Perspiration, and minds spark in full color during Publication.
GOAL:
To reinforce your school’s Writing Objectives through visual associations and interactive drama. Students act out the relationship between reading and writing, creatively intertwined, and leave primed to write.
During April’s National Poetry Month, poetry workshops are available, tailored to the school’s interests.
